PlayNext Privacy Policy

PlayNext (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a companion app for Steam that helps you explore your game library with AI-assisted recommendations and discovery. This policy explains what data we handle and why. We collect as little as possible.

What we process

From your Steam account (via Steam OpenID sign-in):

• Your SteamID — used as your account identifier.
• Your game library, playtimes, and achievement progress — fetched from Steam to power the app’s features. This requires your Steam profile’s “Game details” to be set to Public.

We never see or store your Steam password. Sign-in happens on Steam’s own hosted login page.

From your use of AI features:

• The messages and context you send to the Recommend and Discover features are processed to generate responses.
• A per-user usage counter (number of AI actions) used to enforce free-tier limits.
• If you choose to save a search, its query and results are stored so you can reopen it later. Each of Recommend and Discover keeps a separate, limited list per account (oldest entries drop off once the list is full) — this is retained until you delete it or it’s displaced by newer saves, not on a fixed expiry.

From subscriptions (if you purchase PlayNext Pro):

• A subscription/transaction record (Apple transaction identifiers and status) used to grant and verify your subscription. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your payment-card details.

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, or device advertising identifiers, and we do not use your data for advertising.

How we use it

• To display your Steam library and game details.
• To generate AI recommendations and discovery results.
• To enforce free-tier usage limits and verify Pro subscriptions.
• To operate, secure, and debug the service.

Who we share it with (service providers)

• Valve / Steam — source of your library and game data (Steam Web API).
• Google (Gemini API) — processes your AI prompts to generate responses. Prompts are sent for the sole purpose of returning a response.
• Firebase / Google Cloud — hosts our backend, authentication, and caches.
• Apple — processes subscription purchases and provides purchase verification.

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

Data retention

• Cached library and achievement data is stored temporarily to improve speed and is refreshed or expires automatically.
• Saved searches (see above) are retained until you delete them, they’re displaced by newer saves, or you delete your account.
• Your subscription record is retained while your subscription is active and as required for receipt/refund handling.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app: open the account menu (top-right) and choose Delete Account. This removes your subscription record, saved searches, and cached library data, and signs you out. Your Steam account is not affected. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Your daily/minute AI usage counters (used only to enforce free-tier limits, not linked to any content) are retained rather than reset, so re-creating an account doesn’t grant a new free-tier allowance.

Children

PlayNext is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
